You breathe a couple of times a week. Maybe with an app, maybe a YouTube video, maybe a breathwork circle that's become a staple in your mental health routine.
And it works. It works so well that you've started telling people about it.
Maybe you've even slipped a few calming breaths into the end of a session or a class.
But leading a full session? Someone lying down in front of you, breathing deeply, and you're the one guiding them through it?
That's where it stops. You've done a LOT of breathwork. You've never led it. And nothing so far has shown you that you could.
So it shows up in small ways:
More practice isn't going to magically give you the skills to lead trauma-informed sessions.
Every app, every video, every group session keeps proving the same thing: the breath is incredible. That's why you keep going back.
But none of them show you how to be the facilitator. They don't teach you what to ask before someone lies down, what to watch for, or how to explain what's happening when someone's body does something unexpected.
You learn what the breath does as the breather. You never learn how to lead someone else through it.
I learned that the hard way.
Okay, story time...
In 2018 I took out a PayPal loan to pay $1,500 for a one-week breathwork training. One week, and I'd be ready to facilitate. That was the promise.
I believed I just had to show up, trust the process, and the breath would handle everything.
Then I led my first group. About 25 people. I knew almost immediately I was a fish out of water.
One person's hands cramped badly, and they panicked. Someone else dissociated. And I didn't have the skills to walk either of them through it.
It kept happening. Group after group.
Within about three months I was hunting for more training: certs on energetic boundaries, books on what's happening in the body when we breathe, and eventually two more breathwork trainings.
At the same time, a group chat of friends (a therapist, someone who works in recovery spaces, a massage therapist, a coach and voice actor, and me, the Pilates instructor) started writing rules of service together. What had to be in place for a session to be trauma-informed.
I had my own practice and 11 years of teaching Pilates under my belt before that room of 25. None of it told me what to do when someone panicked.
Every session you breathe makes you more intuitive and more connected to your own practice. None of it makes you a facilitator.
So start from your own practice, and build experience as a trauma-informed facilitator. Get hands-on practice with support, so you never have to second-guess yourself.
Those rules, my own sessions, and everything I learned one training at a time became the Responsible Facilitation Method.
It's a way to confidently lead both the three-part breath and conscious connected breath with a plan, from before someone lies down to after they go home, so you're never leading a session with fingers crossed, hoping the universe will sort it out.
Dr. Sherry Taylor, a clinical psychologist and somatic psychotherapist, came to BLS already breathwork trained. She'd never led a group. Now she does. In her words, "what changed was in fact my confidence." Practicing as the facilitator is what got her there.
You were never missing some gift other facilitators have. You were missing the part nobody teaches you as the breather.
It's not that you're not intuitive. Intuition is like any other skill, and it gets stronger every time you practice using it.
And you don't have to become a whole new person to do this. No new persona, no new vocabulary, no crystals required (unless you love crystals, in which case, bring them).
What you need is hands-on experience leading people, someone giving you feedback, and the science to understand what you're seeing.
Hi! I'm Chauna (she/her), founder of Breath Liberation Society, and possibly the least chill meditation teacher you'll ever meet. I idle at anxious. Breathwork is how I learned to be in my body.
I've taught Pilates since 2006 and facilitated breathwork since 2018. BLS is GPBA accredited, and we're the first and only GPBA-accredited program owned and operated by a Black woman. I've presented at the Polyvagal Institute's Global Gathering and served as Facilitator in Residence at Sounds True.
80+ students have trained with BLS, and 60+ are certified facilitators. They're therapists, nurses, coaches, yoga teachers, librarians, and advocates, and they lead breathwork in therapy practices, healing centers, and their own communities. Four BLS grads were at the Laramie Healing Summit, three of them as presenters.
Every student learns the Responsible Facilitation Method and practices leading their classmates, with feedback, before they're cleared to see a client.
I built this for people who already hold others in some way and want to add breathwork without guessing. And I built it so nobody has to piece it together the way I did.
My goal is for BLS graduates to lead breathwork for 10,000 people by 2030. I'd love for some of those sessions to be yours.
That's why I built the Breathwork Facilitator Training.
It's a five-month, 100-hour, trauma-informed training for healing professionals and breathwork enthusiasts, new or experienced. You'll learn to confidently and responsibly lead paid breathwork sessions, and bring them to your community, inside the practice you already have or as a practice all its own.
You learn mostly at your own pace, with live support every week.
You practice leading your classmates, on your own and in our monthly Practice Clinics. Once you test out, you start leading sessions for friends, family, and clients.
You'll learn to lead both the three-part breath and conscious connected breath, which most schools don't teach. Enrollment is rolling, so you start when you join.
"Unlike a weekend intensive, the depth and breadth of this program has given me confidence in my skill set and the training to handle even unexpected outcomes."
Five months from now, here's what a session looks like.
Someone books with you. Before they ever lie down, you've screened them, so you know what you're working with.
They start breathing. Their hands start to tingle, and they're not worried, because you already told them what to expect.
Halfway through, someone panics. You don't freeze. You know what to do, because you've practiced it, with feedback, more than once.
Afterward, you send them home with a care document. And you go home without carrying their session with you.
Maybe that's in your therapy practice. Maybe it's a monthly group at your studio, or the friend who's been asking you for months. Either way, you're the one leading it.
"I was referring a lot of clients to other practitioners and they were not following up. Once I got this training I could offer it myself instead of referring out."
"Anyone can learn to facilitate breathwork, but Breath Liberation Society fosters brilliant, intuitive, space holders."
"Breathwork has changed my relationship with my self-care, my body, the way I experience emotions. It has made me feel more free."
"friends have commented that I feel steadier in my presence."
(Breathwork Foundations)
30 days of guided breathwork meditations. You can't guide someone somewhere you've never been.
(Holding Space)
The physiology of breathing, energy work, ethics, consent, and boundaries, so your sessions come from your own voice and intuition, not a script you memorized.
(the Responsible Facilitation Method)
My signature method for the three-part breath and conscious connected breath, including contraindications, screening, and safety protocols.
(Trauma Informed Care)
How different breath practices affect the stress response, how to support integration, and how to send clients home with a post-session care document.
(Group Sessions)
How to plan and lead sessions for three or more people at once.
(Business of Breathwork)
How to build and price your offers, so this doesn't become one more training you never use.
Enroll by Tuesday, December 1 at 11:59 pm ET
You get access to everything the day you enroll, but your five-month clock doesn't start until January 1. Start your 30-day practice in December if you want, and the holidays don't eat into your training time.
Enroll by Friday, November 27 at 11:00 pm ET
Two WhatsApp group chat days with me, December 3 and December 10. We check in, I answer your questions, and you actually get started, instead of saving it for "when things calm down." I built this for anyone who's ever finished a training and never used it.
"Grateful to have learned from so many experts committed to integrity, service, and support. You balanced the intuitive nature of this work with the fundamentals so well."
"The program is structured around a myriad of facilitators rather than around just one 'guru'."
"this particular course is very thorough at preparing you for leading Breathwork sessions."
Enroll by Tuesday, December 1 at 11:59 pm ET and you're in at $2,800 (or 2 payments of $1,400). That's $500 less.
Count me inNeed a longer payment plan? Email info@chaunabryant.com and we'll work it out.
The moment you enroll, you get the Facilitator's Playbook, the Apiary Library, and the meditation recordings. Take 24 hours to look through everything and make sure it's what you want.
If it's not, email hello@breathliberationsociety.com within those 24 hours and you'll get a refund minus a $150 processing fee. After 24 hours, there are no refunds or credits.
No. You need 5 hours of logged breathwork (three-part or conscious connected breath) before your first day, either on your own or with a trauma-informed facilitator. Our students include therapists, nurses, coaches, and yoga teachers, and also librarians, artists, and advocates.
Probably not. Dr. Sherry Taylor came in already trained and had never led a group. Now she does.
Yes. Lizette Monroy, an LMFT in California, folded breathwork into the therapy practice she already had. Some students join for their own practice and end up leading a session for a friend a few months in.
That makes sense, and you don't have to feel ready to start. As Ciana Barnaba, a yoga teacher and BLS grad, put it: "sometimes that nervousness is making you aware of the medicine you need."
Plan on about 20 hours a month. The lectures are recorded, so you watch them when it works for you, and the live calls are there when you can make them. If you enroll by December 1, your five months don't start until January 1, which gives you December to get settled.
Facilitator Momentum Sessions are every Monday, 1 to 2 pm ET. Practice Clinics are the third Thursday of every month, 6:00 to 7:30 pm ET. Business Lab sessions open up after Module 4 and your facilitation clearance. You also get access to all of my virtual breathwork groups.
Your live support runs the length of the training, and the recorded materials are yours for life, including every future update.
Yes. BLS has been GPBA accredited since May 2024, and when you finish, you're eligible to register with the Global Professional Breathwork Alliance.
We don't, but extended payment plans are available. Email info@chaunabryant.com.

"I don't have to be anything I am not already to be a facilitator. There's no secret formula. Just a willingness to practice and an openness to learn. Your whole self is welcome here."
One more thing before you go.
If nothing changes, you'll keep breathing with your app, and it'll keep working for you. That's not nothing.
But the person you keep picturing, the client or friend who needs this, will still be waiting for someone to lead it.
Every session you breathe has made you more intuitive and more connected to your own practice. Becoming a facilitator takes something else: practice leading, feedback, and a plan for when a session doesn't go the way you expected.
That's what we do here.
Enroll by Tuesday, December 1 at 11:59 pm ET to come in at $2,800 and start your five months on January 1. Join by Black Friday at 11 pm ET and I'll see you in the Quick Action Pod on December 3.
Questions first? Message me on Instagram @chaunabryant or email info@chaunabryant.com. No hard pressure tactics, I promise. I really believe the timing has to be right.
